Dear Cutting Edge fencers and families,

Throughout the months of November and December we have come to realize that we do not have access to regular, reliable and dependable public transportation between our home on Wolfe Island and Kingston. The situation has become much worse most recently, which has impacted our lives tremendously as islanders. It affects both our personal and work lives on a daily basis. The most recent example has seen us without a ferry for the past day.

Secondly we also have a parent who is about to begin their cancer treatment journey, and of course we want to be there to help support them along the way. Therefore this care-giver support will become a key priority for us over the next little while.

For both of these reasons we have decided to suspend the Cutting Edge Fencing classes for the month of January. We know you and your child enjoy fencing immensely, but at this time we do not think we can be dependable coaching service providers for the RMC Cutting Edge classes as we have in the past.

We are hopeful that as winter eases the WI Ferry will become more dependable as it is less impacted by high winds, bad weather, and mechanical issues. Our hope is that we may be able to return to regular classes mid-February for a spring session. We will re-activate the online registration when we are clear about the return timings.

Until such time we encourage you to stay active in other sports or activities and we will keep you informed of when we think it is viable to return to our coaching duties at RMCs’ Cutting Edge Fencing.

We wish you all the best for the holiday season and a healthy and happy new year in 2026.

Your Cutting Edge Fencing coaches,

Patricia Howes and David Howes
