Three members of Cutting Edge Fencing came home with bronze medals from the 2015 Vango Open in Markham last weekend. Dashel Hutson upset the #1 ranked fencer in the quarterfinals to win bronze in Y12 men’s epee. Matthias Leuprecht went into the direct elimination round having only lost once in pools and earned a bronze after losing to eventual gold medallist William Kinney in the semi-finals of senior men’s sabre. Danielle Burghgraef came way with a bronze medal in senior women’s sabre after losing a close match in the semi-finals. DJ Holtz just missed a medal in Y14 men’s epee after a very close loss in the quarterfinals by a score of 15-14, while Deserae Ball also had a very close match in Y14 women’s epee, losing 15-13.
Eight members of Cutting Edge & their coaches will travel to Kitchener this weekend for the Canada Cup. Good luck to everyone!

Due to renovations that will begin soon in the Old Gym, our programs are moving to the SAM-1 gym in the KMCSC. All advanced programs resume Monday January 5.
